Gestational Diabetes Overweight

I am overweight, pregnant, and now have gestational diabetes. How am I going to get through the next nine months?

This really is a situation that requires the support of a nutritionist. You need to have a diet that is carefully planned to ensure that you get all the nutrition you need to ensure your baby goes properly. The fact that you are overweight may mean that you have some bad diet habits that you will need to overcome, and that you need to learn how to manage your diet.

A dietician will be able to take your specific situation into account. This is not the time to be trying to get slim, so the diet will focus on keeping your blood sugar steady and keeping you and the baby well nourished. Because your weight changes as the pregnancy progress, controlling your blood sugar will be an ongoing task, and the support of the dietician will be invaluable to you in the months to come.
