Can it possibly be normal to need the toilet this much? It
is annoying me that I have to go so often!
There is more than one reason for the fact that you need
to urinate so frequently. Not only do you have the pressure
of increased blood volume, kidneys that have gone into overdrive
to keep this increased blood volume in great shape, but
also the pressure of the growing uterus on your bladder.
During the middle portion of your pregnancy you will find
that because the uterus rises somewhat, the pressure is
relieved, only to return as the baby grows and the uterus
drops into your pelvis. Remember that as with most pregnancy
symptoms this will vary hugely from one woman to another.
If you have not noticed any change in this area then that
is fine as long as you are sure to drink around eight glasses
of water a day.
If you try leaning forward as you urinate this can be helpful
in making sure the bladder is empty. Beyond that you just
have to accept this situation. Do not be tempted to cut
down on your fluid intake. It is vital that you drink eight
glasses of water a day to keep those hard working kidneys
well flushed. The only concession is that if you find that
getting up the night to go to the toilet si really disrupting
your sleep, then you can make sure that you drink enough
in the early part of the day and then cut down on fluids
in the hours before bedtime.
