 Weaning – Sick baby

I had planned to wean my baby while I was on leave from work so that I could be present to give her plenty of physical reassurance in case she found the process tricky! Now she has a bad cold and a cough and is not sleeping well at all. Is it better to persevere with the weaning while it suits me to do so, or do I have to replan this whole situation?

Unfortunately your baby is unlikely to be amenable to a change as profound as weaning while she is sick. In fact any type of upheaval in baby’s life makes weaning a bad idea. You will have to rethink your excellent plan of weaning while the two of you were relaxed and could spend plenty of time together.
