I just wondered why nature puts babies through the trauma
of producing two sets of teeth. Just think how carefree babyhood
would be without the pain and fevers caused by teething!
Permanent teeth only develop once the jaw
is properly formed. This is the case with many animals, not
just humans. So the juvenile teeth are required so that the
baby is able to chew while the jaw is still forming. Nature
does know best, even though we are sometimes puzzled by her
ways!
