 Postnatal Depression – Treatment:

How could postnatal depression be treated?

It is treated the same way as ordinary depression.

Talking about the problem with somebody, such as a health visitor.
Try and get extra support and help with taking care of baby.
Sometimes antidepressants are necessary. Although this can cause problems with breastfeeding, however there are drugs that are safe.
You should remember that the most important thing both from the baby's and your point of view is to get better as quickly as possible.

Visit the website of the postnatal depression society: http://www.pndsa.co.za for help and support
