Information about Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis is a disease that takes many forms, and children
under the age of three are susceptible to the generalized
form of this disease. It spreads through the lymph glands
to many parts of the body. TB is often fatal, and is a bacterial
infection spread through water-born droplets. It is extremely
contagious and a major killer of children in Africa. After
an incubation time of between two and twelve weeks, the
patient will have a fever, night-sweats, exhaustion and
weight-loss, and a wet cough, sometimes blood-stained. Survivors
are likely to have lung damage.
