Information about Whooping Cough (Pertussis)
This highly contagious bacterial lung infection is contracted
by contact with an infected person. Adults are prone to
less severe versions of this disease, as adult immunity
may have run out. Between six and tens days after contact,
the patient will suffer severe coughing and mucous problems.
This disease can be fatal.
After inoculation with the DT or DTacP-Hib it is normal
for infants to be slightly feverish, and off their food.
Keep a close eye on the symptoms so that you can discuss
them with your doctor. Rare cases of severe reactions have
been experienced.
