Genitals – Caring for little girls :

I feel a bit awkward about the size of my little girls genitals, and unsure about keeping them clean.

Most babies, both boys and girls, are born with genitals which seem oversized in proportion to the rest of their bodies. This is perfectly normal and caused by the presence of the mother’s hormones in the system of the baby.

The most important thing to remember when cleaning little girls is always to wipe from front to back, so as not to introduce bacteria into the baby’s vagina. Generally cleaning around the valva should be sufficient, and opening the valva to clean inside should be avoided if possible. If you do clean within, remember that white discharge is normal and can be left alone.
